Humans are said to have the most complicated lives. We are not just professionally but emotionally too complicated as well. Sometimes we stress over little things. Then there are times when we solve our biggest of the problems with ease. Yet our lives keep on going. We know that maybe we are seeing a bad day today but tomorrow things surely would turn better. But what if it never does? And what if those, despite such problems and difficulty you still manage to rise above all? Above the acid…
Story of Reshma…
Reshma, An acid attack survivor who showed the world that it’s not the skin that matters but it’s the will that helps a person go on.
Being acid attack-ed at the age of 18, she saw her entire world change in front of her eyes. Negligence from the society was just the starting. No medical aid from the government, Reshma saw such days that many can’t even think of. Yet she did not lose hope and nor gave up in trying to make her life as normal as anybody else’s. She got in touch with a foundation called “make love, not scars” and did vlogs on beauty tips with an actual message about the condition of the acid attack survivors in the country. She got popular and it was the first time that our government looked into the matter and took actions.
It was by 2013 that the government banned the sale of open acids from supporting the initiative taken by this courageous girl.
Undying hope and her victory!
But this was not it. Reshma she had a long way. Recently, on the auspicious occasion of the Cannes festival, Reshma got an award on behalf of the Cannes Lions organization. Despite the entries from all over the world with many surely being better than hers, she still managed to get her way. Being awarded at such an occasion surely would have filled her heart with joy. She would have realized that it’s not the only the face that matters and helps you get to the top but it’s the will and inner strength that helps one survive when even the closest to you leave you all alone.
Reshma is surely a person worth looking up to and realizing that it’s how we look at things in life and take them and not how easy it can be to give up and regret all along.
